Pure Adventure

7 Nights / 8 Days

ITINERARY

DAY 01: JUAN SANTAMARÍA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – SAN JOSÉ

Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival in the capital, one of our representatives will meet you at Juan Santamaría International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight in San José.

DAY 02:           SAN JOSÉ – PACUARE

Our Pacuare overnight adventure is a combination of rafting and hiking. Not only will you experience thrilling rapids, but you will also explore pristine waterfalls, natural swimming pools, and primary rainforest.

This trip includes at least one hike per day, depending on your level of fitness and sense of adventure. To maximize your experience, we use an upper river entry point, adding approximately 6.5 km / 4 miles upstream. This makes your first day on the river significantly longer, with twice the number of rapids and enhanced hiking opportunities.

On the first day, you will navigate 13 km / 8 miles of continuous Class III whitewater, covering approximately 14 rapids. Arrival at Pacuare Tent Camp is shortly after midday, just in time for lunch.

Afternoon activities include optional hikes, river fishing, or simply relaxing in a hammock. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight at the lodge.

Includes: Transportation from San José and drop-off in Arenal, guides, equipment, one night accommodation, happy hour, and five meals
What to bring: Swimsuit, water shoes, long-sleeve shirt or rash guard, reusable water bottle, change of light clothing, towel, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, windbreaker, flashlight, and personal toiletries

DAY 03:           PACUARE – VOLCÁN ARENAL

Breakfast at the lodge. After packing, the river descent continues. All Class IV rapids are experienced on this day, offering an exciting challenge as you navigate the remaining 23 km / 14 miles with approximately 40 rapids.

There will be two stops: one for a short exploratory hike and another for lunch along the river. At the end of the journey, transfer to the Exploration Center, followed by transfer to Arenal.
Overnight in Arenal.

DAY 04:           RÍO CELESTE & TENORIO VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the hotel. Without a doubt, one of the most spectacular places in Costa Rica, Río Celeste is famous for its striking turquoise-blue waters surrounded by lush nature.

Located on the slopes of Tenorio Volcano, this unique river offers unforgettable scenery. The tour begins with a 7 km loop trail through the forest, visiting several highlights including the impressive Río Celeste Waterfall, the Blue Lagoon, and a scenic viewpoint overlooking Tenorio Volcano and surrounding hills.

Two of the most remarkable stops are “Las Ollas” (boiling mud fumaroles) and “Los Teñideros,” where the river acquires its distinctive color. On the return, walk along the river, observing thermal springs and bubbling waters.

The experience concludes with a delicious lunch. Overnight in Arenal.

Includes: Transportation in A/C minibus, certified bilingual naturalist guide, National Park entrance fee, bottled water, snacks (chocolates or apples), lunch, informational materials, and liability insurance
Recommended: Hiking shoes, comfortable clothing, rain jacket, change of clothes, insect repellent

DAY 05:           ARENAL – MANUEL ANTONIO

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Central Pacific coast. Manuel Antonio National Park is relatively small (682 hectares) but offers everything that makes Costa Rica unique: beautiful beaches, stunning coastal scenery with offshore islands, lush rainforest, easy walking trails, and abundant wildlife.

You may observe monkeys (howler, white-faced, and squirrel monkeys), sloths, and coatis. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.

DAY 06:           SNORKELING & KAYAK

Breakfast at the hotel. This Manuel Antonio tour is perfect for those who want to explore both land and sea. Transportation will take you to the Quepos pier.

You will kayak for approximately 2.5 hours (round trip), passing islands and coves where numerous seabirds nest. Midway, you will stop at a secluded bay to rest and enjoy refreshments.

You will have approximately 30 minutes to snorkel at Playa Biesanz. Water visibility varies depending on the season. You may spot parrotfish, starfish, angelfish, and possibly sea turtles.

This tour allows you to discover marine and coastal wildlife, from pelicans to flying fish.

Upon return, enjoy a homemade meal before transfer back to your hotel. Kayaks are available as single or double. Participants must be at least 8 years old to paddle independently. No prior experience is required.
Overnight in Manuel Antonio.
